Our own county

The firm's Kilkenny roots go back to 1981, and the county's capacity work comes to us the way business always has here — by name, through families we've acted for across generations. The patterns are the south-east's: city families in Kilkenny's terraces and estates managing a parent's decline; the farming parishes — Callan, Ballyragget, Graiguenamanagh, Mullinavat — where the home place is the estate and capacity planning is inseparable from succession (our dedicated farm practice at farmsolicitor.ie shares this building); St Luke's hospital discharge meetings; and the nursing homes from Thomastown to Freshford whose admissions bring Fair Deal and authority questions together.

Kilkenny capacity applications are heard at the Circuit Court sitting in Kilkenny city — five minutes' walk from Rose Inn Street. For the wider south-east we're the near office, with Waterford, south Tipperary and west Wexford families using Kilkenny as their base; and for matters that end up in Dublin lists, our Ormond Quay office covers the other end.

Capacity law services

Getting to us — or us to you

Our Dublin office is in the Ormond Building, 31–36 Ormond Quay Upper, Dublin 7 (D07 EE37), minutes from the Four Courts; our south-east office is at 2 Rose Inn Street, Kilkenny (R95 W58D). One number reaches both: 01 5827148, or email richardoshea@marymolloysolicitors.com. Most capacity work travels by phone, post and email; where a matter needs it — particularly taking instructions where capacity is in question — home, hospital and nursing home visits can be arranged, along with out of hours appointments.

How our fees work

You get a fixed quote in writing before any work starts — no hourly-rate surprises. If the scope changes, the quote is revised in writing before we continue. In contentious business, a solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement. How costs work in capacity matters →
